Hello friends, I had to take time out of my busy jet-setting life to share this powerful and goose bump inducing manifesto, written by my new best friend from LinkedIn, Robert Jennings,~freelance writer and general overall badass. Take these words to heart. Read them, share them, print them and wallpaper your cubicle with them.
There is always a brighter tomorrow for those of us who dream of building a life from our creative pursuits, and I thank Robert for this really neato graphic full of words to inspire those of us who dare to follow the same path.
He posted this on his website Freelance Rider, and I promised him that my friends would take a look around his place, so DO it. Click the link and don’t make a liar out of me. You know I don’t like that. So, when you’re done getting your daily dose of awe inspiring warm fuzzy by reading this, get over to Freelance Rider, or NO haikus again for you this Thursday, and I MEAN IT!!!!
Don’t let the bastards get you down, and don’t take less than you’re worth if at all possible. And now, just so you know it’s really me, I’ll insert that random picture that has absolutely no relevance whatsoever to this post, just like you’ve come to expect.
(Maybe it’s these random pictures I insist on including in things that are hampering my success as a writer…hmm, oh well, whatever, gotta be me)
Thanks, Julie! I’ve never had a best friend before.
Stick with me, kid. I’ll take you for rides in my sporty car! 🙂 Thanks so much for letting me share this, Robert. It really did give me a boost of sorely needed confidence. Read a few of my posts from recent months, and you’ll see. I almost gave this up.
Nice ride, Cheeky!
Thanks! It gets awesome mileage! Actually, Mr. The Cheeky snapped this picture of me the day I did buy a new car a couple of years ago. We were talking my real car for a spin and stopped at a park. He couldn’t resist.
It suits you!
It does, doesn’t it. It fits me better than the jeans I was wearing that day…sigh…can’t fit into them right now. I seem to be packing on the pounds like I’m a pregnant reality TV star who shall remain nameless.
Man, it’s nuts how much press a pregnant woman putting on weight gets. She’s pregnant! Of course, when your career is entirely based on your looks…
Yep, She’s everywhere you look these days.
Luckily I have my eyes closed.
Wait… is that you… oh oh oh oh oh oh oh… can I steal it??? Can I can I huh??? Please let me do strange and unspeakable things to you head… can I can I?
Yes, that’s me, and sure, go ahead….Oh brother.
oh yeah…
I feel the regret seeping in already. This post wasn’t really supposed to be about me, don’t forget the message. I was just showing a glimpse of my high lifestyle because this message was worth putting my pinky down (on the keyboard) long enough to share it. But, go on, have your fun. I’m really enjoying the series.
I will fight the temptation to use a Cruela DeVille picture and make fun of your lovely hair streak!
Oh, that’s fine. I have done it myself. I even have a Pinterest board that’s all lovely white stripes.
We will just have to see what happens…
It is real, by the way, did you know that? I’m the third generation to have it that I know of. Both my father and his mom had one. Should be interesting to see if one of my boys ends up with one too.
At least I didn’t go straight for the skunk joke… HA!
Your face… and some other parts… have been stolen… and posted…
🙂
Went to visit your friend – is this a new blog for him? I could only find the one post, but it was interesting & I agree with him on the rate being paid to freelance writers!
No, I don’t know what happened, he has quite a few entries. I’ll check on that and get back to you. You should subscribe to it. When you do, you get his awesome piece to download that’s 7 resources for freelance writers to find work. 🙂
Went back after I posted my comment to you & subscribed, got the book & everything! I think I’m going to enjoy this blog, thanks for the recommendation!
Sure thing! I am learning so much and finding so many great people and resources with my hours of reading and connecting. Hopefully it will all pay off and i am more than willing to share my findings with my friends!
Hey there, I clicked on my link above and it went right to Robert’s blog, with all the entries. I don’t know why it didn’t work for you. He really has a great deal of inspirational stuff there, so don’t miss out! 🙂
Powerful words! I’ve just launched a first version of a new online workplace focused on meritocracy and transparency: http://www.cresters.com. If you have a minute could you check it out and tell me what you think? Have a great day!
Cheers,
Vassili
I just checked it out. Looks good! Are you looking for writers too? 😉
Yes definitely! 🙂
Woo hoo! Cool! Thanks! 🙂
